FLAude, a proactive project to deal with floods

FLAude aims to better understand extreme hydrometeorological phenomena and to develop prevention and risk reduction indicators, adapted for use by local decision-makers in Aude and Occitanie.

After the devastating floods that occurred in October 2018, the Aude department has become a pilot territory for the use of satellite images following an extreme hydrometeorological event.

The FLAude project is led by the Earth Observation teams (Labo OT) of the Connect by CNES program, in partnership with DDTM Aude, Météo France, Toulouse2 Jean Jaurès University and the company SGEvT.
This project is part of the Space Climate Observatory (SCO) France which benefits from 50% co-funding by Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S).

THE ACTIONS OF SCO, the SPACE CLIMATE OBSERVATORY

The Space Climate Observatory (SCO) operates at the local level, and supports territorial actors by proposing concrete solutions derived from space to help them better understand and better adapt to the impacts linked to the climate emergency, and to mitigate the impacts of climate change in their territories.
